Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-06. GlossAtlas is in its pre-launch build phase; a Google Analytics 4 property and Google’s consent management platform have now been configured for this site (see below), but glossatlas.com has not yet been deployed to production, so none of this is actually running against a real visitor yet. Where that’s the case, this page says so explicitly rather than describing it as already live.

What GlossAtlas is

GlossAtlas (glossatlas.com) is an independent, static reference tool for comparing paint manufacturers’ own published gloss/sheen measurements across brands. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any paint manufacturer named on the site. See the Brand Independence page for the full statement.

No accounts, no server-side data collection

GlossAtlas has no user accounts, no login, no server-side database, and no form that collects personal information. The comparison tool runs entirely in your browser against a static, version-controlled dataset built into the site — nothing you select (a brand, a product line, a finish) is sent to a server for processing, because there is no server-side processing at all.

Analytics (configured, not yet live)

A Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property now exists for GlossAtlas, but glossatlas.com is not yet deployed to production, so no analytics code is actually sending data anywhere yet. The site’s codebase contains an analytics module (src/analytics/) that fires a small, fixed set of product events once the site is live — for example, that a comparison was completed, or that a source citation link was opened. Every one of those event names and their parameters is specified in the project’s ANALYTICS_REQUIREMENTS.md document; no free-text field anywhere on the site feeds into analytics, so there is no path for personal information to end up in an event even once this goes live.

GlossAtlas uses Google’s Consent Mode: signals for ad and analytics storage default to denied, and this site only sends full analytics/advertising signals to Google after you make an explicit choice through Google’s own consent interface (see next section). This page will be updated with GA4’s specific data-retention and IP-handling settings once the site is deployed and that configuration is confirmed live.

GlossAtlas does not build or run its own cookie/consent banner. Consent for advertising and analytics cookies is managed exclusively through Google’s own consent management platform (AdSense → Privacy & Messaging), which has been configured for glossatlas.com. That interface — not any custom UI on this site — is where you accept, reject, or manage your choices, and a “Privacy choices” link (present on every page, once the CMP is live) lets you reopen it at any time to change your mind.

Nothing described in this section is live to real visitors yet — the consent interface has been configured in Google’s console, but glossatlas.com itself has not been deployed to production, so no visitor has been shown it and no advertising is served.

Cookies

See the Cookie Policy page for the current, accurate list of what this site stores in your browser today (currently: nothing beyond what a modern browser does automatically) and what Google’s tools will add once the site is deployed and they go live.

Third parties

The only third party involved anywhere in this design is Google (GA4 and Google’s advertising/consent products) — configured for this site, but not yet live, since glossatlas.com is not yet deployed to production. GlossAtlas does not sell, rent, or share any data with any other third party, because it does not collect any data of its own to share.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated as real infrastructure (GA4, Google’s CMP, AdSense) actually goes live, each time reflecting what is genuinely configured rather than what is merely planned. The “Last updated” date above will change whenever the content does.
